Monitoring in Aberdeen
Our team has completed excavation of PCS and chemical injections to treat groundwater. The project is now in the confirmatory monitoring phase.
Gas Staion in Aberdeen has reached a major milestone with the successful completion of both petroleum-contaminated soil (PCS) removal and in-situ chemical injection. Over 690 tons of PCS were excavated and properly disposed of, addressing the primary source of contamination at the fueling station site. Following excavation, two rounds of chemical injections were carried out using Regenox and ORC Advanced to treat residual petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater. These injections were designed to promote in-situ chemical oxidation and enhance natural attenuation processes.
With these remediation activities now complete, the project has transitioned into the confirmatory monitoring phase. This involves collecting and analyzing groundwater samples from monitoring wells across the site to assess the effectiveness of the cleanup and ensure that contaminant levels are declining in accordance with Washington State’s Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) standards. The data gathered during this phase will be critical in demonstrating compliance and determining whether additional remediation or long-term monitoring is necessary.
