Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study

RI/FS is a process used to assess environmental contamination and evaluate cleanup options.

Service Description

The Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) is a comprehensive process used to evaluate and address environmental contamination at a site. The Remedial Investigation phase involves collecting data to understand the type, extent, and risks of contamination, often through sampling and site characterization. This helps build a Conceptual Site Model (CSM) that outlines how contaminants move and affect human health and the environment. The Feasibility Study then explores and compares potential cleanup strategies—such as excavation, chemical treatment, or natural attenuation—based on effectiveness, cost, and long-term sustainability. Together, the RI/FS guides the selection of a preferred remedy that meets regulatory standards and ensures safe site restoration.
