UST Removal, In-Place Closure, and Decommissioning: Safe and compliant removal or closure of tanks
Service Description
Underground Storage Tank (UST) decommissioning is the process of safely removing or permanently closing fuel or chemical storage tanks buried beneath the ground. This typically involves regulatory notification, site assessment for contamination, removal of residual contents, excavation and tank removal (or filling with inert material if left in place), and post-removal sampling to verify environmental safety. The goal is to prevent leaks, comply with environmental regulations, and ensure the site is suitable for future use. UST decommissioning is often required during property redevelopment, ownership transfer, or when tanks are no longer in service.
